The sun is out and it's time to meet up with friends and family. Start up the bar-b-q, break out the cooler, and get the party started. One of the unsolved mysterious of this time of year is how to keep drinks cool. Most people arrange soda cans and bottles like clay soldiers side by side then dump ice on top. Others do the old can fling. Throw stuff in there and then throw the ice on there. Some even put the ice in first then try to force cans and bottles into the ice. This is not the most efficient way to cool down drinks. The following solution works for cans and bottles, and a mixture of both.

SOLUTION:
Put drinks of the same type on their side and make stackable rows. Leave a couple inches of space on both sides of each row. Then fill these rows with ice. This will ensure that the top and bottom of every can is touching ice. You can maximize this by adding some water so that all surfaces are touching the ice cold water. Your guests will thank you because all the drinks will get cold quickly, and you will be able to fit more in the cooler. In addition your drink selection will be sorted, so no one has to dive their hands into freezing cold water. No more scuba diving for a specific drink since they are all lined up nicely.
