Make sure you have a guest list for your next event, big or small.
The bigger your event, the more important this is.
Make a list, and check it twice. Find out who is going to your party, and who hasn't been nice!

Make your guest list and set it up by tables. Don't worry too much about having a table that is not 100% full. You want your guests to be seated with at least one other person they know. This helps to start the conversation at the table and makes it less awkward for all involved. An occasional empty seat can be a good thing since after the formalities start people tend to move around. That empty space you might have been so worried about suddenly be filled.
One more thing to remember. Decide if you will have a head table or sweetheart table or not. Though most do not get used very much during the festivities we feel it is important to at least have a sweetheart table set up. This gives the guests of honor an official station that everyone respects and no one else dares to sit there. Once the party gets going go sit with mom and dad or whoever you would like.
Remember do your event your way, but remember there are certain unwritten rules that most guests will observe at any event.
